7 Steps to Career Opportunities
1. Submit Application
Submit your application to the Internship Selection Committee composed of public and private water and wastewater agencies and local community colleges. The final date to submit your application is May 30, 2017.
Enroll in water/wastewater technology courses at either Cuyamaca College or Palomar College.
3. Interview with the Internship Selection Committee
If selected for interview meet with selection committee for interview.
4. Accept Internship Offer
Commit to a maximum 27-hour workweek at an hourly rate of $11 for 33 weeks. The conditions of the internship require a security background check, valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under agencies' vehicle insurance policy, passing the pre-employment physical, and satisfactory employment authorization documentation.
5. Attend Classes
Attend evening classes at Cuyamaca College or Palomar College while gaining experience and earning pay during the day.
6. Work as an Intern
Work as an intern at different water and wastewater agencies in the San Diego region, gaining valuable experience rotating through four different career modules, while attending water/wastewater technology courses at local community colleges. Interns must work at a satisfactory performance level and maintain a grade of "C" or better in college coursework to remain in the program for both semesters.
Complete 33 week program and attend graduation ceremony.
